Recommended Reading: "The Art of the Start"

With the typical off season approaching for most concessionaires, I thought it would be a good idea to start recommending some good material for everyone. The first book that I would highly recommend to folks who are new in business or just thinking about starting their own business is called, The Art of the Start.

The full, official name of the book is The Art of the Start: The Time-Tested, Battle-Hardened Guide for Anyone Starting Anything, written by Guy Kawasaki. Guy is well known as one of the individuals responsible for the success of Apple's Macintosh computer. He is now the managing director of Garage Technologies, an early stage venture capital firm for high-technology companies.

The Art of the Start is very useful in taking a concept and growing it in to reality. Kawasaki uses the term GIST frequently through the book. GIST (Great Ideas for Starting Things) will become a well known term and mode of operating for you if you choose to read his book.

I'll be exploring a few points from his book that I think are of great importance to concessionaires in future blog posts. If you have read this book, please feel free to leave comments with your thoughts and reactions to the content. I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
